Double Binds: Giving Someone Two Doors That Both Lead the Same Way

"Would you rather start with the easy part or the hard part first?" Either answer moves the client forward. That's a double bind: offering a real choice, where every option still lands where you both want to go.

It respects autonomy, nobody likes being told what to do, while removing the option of doing nothing at all.

"Do you want to journal about this tonight, or talk it through with me first thing tomorrow?"

Both routes lead to progress. The client just picks the vehicle.

Use double binds when momentum matters more than the specific path taken to get there.

If you want your message noticed, understood and remembered, Precision Communication is your practical next step.
