Coaching Yourself with NLP...

One of the benefits of mastering NLP is having the ability to use it on yourself so that you can evolve and grow at a rate and speed that is inspirational to others.

The tricky part about coaching yourself, if I am to be honest with you, is the fact that there's a high chance that you will NOT be able to be fully 'honest' with yourself!

You can't perceive what is outside of your awareness and you cannot coach what you cannot perceive.. however... you can improve your performance in a number of areas and you can coach the things that you have managed to realise as being part of a negative pattern of behaviour.

I tend to find it useful to look at my current situation and frame it in the negative that it is... for example

"my finances are terrible and I am in debt to the tune of $X's and I am unhappy about this"

is a nice negative statement about the present state right?

So, the first thing to do, before proceeding with coaching oneself out of this situation, is to change your 'state'... like if you're feeling negative, then you wont be able to look at the situation with any real intelligence, so dow whatever you need to do to shift your state, the way you feel... before taking a look at what you've said about the present.

next step, is to ask yourself "what do I want instead?"... and then focus your attention on the 'desired outcome'.., which must be stated in the positive, in terms of what you DO want.. and to be very clear about what you want... see, feel, hear it in your mind's eye as you consider the fullness of what you truly desire to have be happening... be realistic and be good to yourself... and remember, it is best to do this whilst you are in a positive and good mood.

Once you've identified what you truly want... you can be aware of the gap between your present state and your desired state... right?

after that, you need to identify... what are the thoughts, beliefs, behaviours that get in the way of you having the desired state, now...?

after that, its changework time.., time for you to do whatever you need to do to make the necessary shifts in your mind so you start moving towards where you want to be...

does this make sense?

obviously it can be more complex than this when you are in a mess, but this is a great general framework one can consider in order to get started...
